AOL atarted out in 1988 under the name "Quantum Computer Services" on May 24th. In November 1988 their first online service was launched called "Q-Link".

The name of the company was changed to America Online, Inc in October 1991.

On January 11th 2001 AOL and Time Warner announce they have completed their merger and strive to be able to offer AOL members unique content.

January 31st 1996 saw the launch of AOL UK and by October 2002 the AOL service in the UK passed the 2 million member mark.

In March 2006 AOL and Warner Brothers launch IN2TV that is the first broadband TV network.
