Pay as you go mobile broadband

Only require occasional access to mobile broadband then why not pay as you go

If you have a regular fixed line mobile broadband connection at home that serves your purpose for the majority of the time you may not require a mobile broadband deal that ties you into a 12 or 24 month contract but would still like to be able to use your laptop the odd time when you are away from home.

If this is the case then you would perhaps be best looking at pay as you go mobile broadband deals that will give you the freedom to have mobile broadband but also the freedom to use and pay for it only as and when you need it, just like pay as you go mobile phones do.

Here we are going to do a run down of the different pay as you go mobile broadband deals currently available form the mobile providers.

O2 Pay as you go Mobile Broadband

If you take one of the pre-loaded USB modems then once you have used the data transfer limits you can top up with a 30 day top up as listed below.

Pay over the counter with Post Office broadband

Post Office broadband let you pay over the counter

Since the Post Office started to offer broadband back in 2007 they have been allowing customers to pay for their broadband with cash at one of the 14,000 local Post Office branches.

post office Pay over the counter with Post Office broadbandAlthough nothing new has changed as regards to this we thought it would be a useful topic to bring back to peoples attention especially in these “credit crunch” & recessionary times that we are in, when money is tight and every penny counts.

Although there are cheaper broadband deals out there many may much prefer to be able to pay with cash so they know more clearly where they are up to with their finances instead of the payment getting taken out automatically by direct debit.
It may simply be a case that some are not comfortable with giving out their card details and prefer the option of using cold hard cash to pay for their services. Whatever the reason, for those who want to be able to pay in cash or cheque over the counter for their broadband then take a look at Post Office broadband.

Three Mobile Broadband leads the way by slashing their price

Three Mobile Broadband half price of top mobile broadband deal

Three Mobile broadband have recently halved the price of their mobile broadband from £30 to £15 for their top deal which includes a very respectable 15Gb of data transfer!

3 mobile broadband Three Mobile Broadband leads the way by slashing their priceThe 15Gb deal is on a 24 month contract and includes a free USB modem that can deliver speeds up to 3.6Mb (any extra use over the 15Gb is charged at 10p per Mb)

If you currently compare the “nearest” deal form a rival mobile broadband provider you have to look to Vodafone mobile broadband who are offering a 3Gb data transfer deal with free USB modem that can do speeds up to 7.2Mb and is on a 12 month contract.

Although the speed of the Vodafone one is able to offer twice the theoretical speed it is offering a huge 12Gb less data transfer per month.

We would think that other mobile broadband providers will have to follow suit to match the data transfer on offer from Three if they want to compete.
