Virgin broadband customers to use Gmail

Virgin Media home broadband customers are set to be migrated over to Google’s Gmail service for their email services.

The start of the migration started last week as Virgin are set to move their 4 million broadband customers from their own in-house email platform over to Gmail.

All new Virgin broadband email address will be via @virginmedia.com and will come with the Gmail services of POP3 and IMAP access and also receive 7GB inbox space and will be done on the Gmail platform that has proved very stable since it was launched back in 2004.

The service will at first be offered to the next 20,000 new Virgin broadband customers who sign up before it is rolled out to the rest of the Virgin Media customer base.

Last week we told of another “customer service” that Virgin were offering with the launch of VStuff which is an auto-backup storage for Virgin broadband  customers.

virgin media Virgin broadband + Phone deals work out cheaer than broadband aloneAs they use fibre optics to deliver customers their services means that Virgin Media are able to offer faster speeds, what’s more as they own their own network means that they can offer some brilliant deals too.

If you sign up for Virgin Media broadband on the XL or XXL package and also take the “Phone M” bundle you will actually pay LESS per month than if you just took the XL or XXL broadband as a stand alone product.
