The average broadband speed that is received around the world is 1.5Mb with around 20% of broadband users receiving speeds of 5Mb and above
A survey into broadband speeds around the world has found that the average broadband speed that people receive is 1.5Mb.
The survey was done by research company Akamai who also found that around 20% of broadband users around the world have access to broadband speeds of 5Mb and above.
The UK however currently only has around 8% of broadband users who have access to speeds of 5Mb and above, although with Virgin fibre broadband and BT now investing heavily in a fibre optic broadband network we can hopefully expect to see our results increase, with the current target being South Korea who have a huge 69% who have access to 5Mb and above!
The average broadband speed received in the UK is around 3.5Mb which is way short of South Koreas average of 15.2Mb.
