88% of UK broadband from 10 providers

The 10 largest ISP's provider 88% of UK broadband connections a study by "Point Topic" has found.
Out of 10.7 million broadband lines, 9.5 million were provided by the top 10 by the end of March 2006.

The top broadband ISPs in order of market share are as follows.

The top 6 in the list have a much larger share with a large gap in the number of lines they have in the jump from 6th to 7th. Also worth noting is that NTL & Telewest joined and are now known as ntl:Telewest, and if you add their figures together they become the largest provider with around 2.8 million customers compared to BT's 2.5 million customers.

Pipex will be hoping to close the gap with the launch of their new broadband deals this week and with the subsequent advertising campaign (Pipex to launch free broadband with "The Hoff")
