According to "The Register" who have seen claims in the Italian newspaper "MF", Vodafone are set to become the buyers of the Tiscali broadband business, in a bid that is worth about €2.8 per share which would value Tiscali broadband at €1.6 billion.
If Vodafone do win out then this will be a huge boost for them in the broadband market, moving them into forth spot based on number of subscriber. Tiscali also own a range of other broadband providers such as Pipex, Nildram, Freedom2surf and Bulldog which gives them 1.9 million UK customers.
Back in May we reported that The Carphone Warehouse bid for Tiscali had been rejected so they were removed from the shortlist, other interested companies were apparently BT and also SKY Broadband.
