Broadband satisfaction goes down

4th July 2007

Overall satisfaction towards the broadband market from customers is on the down according to results from a recent uSwitch study.

The results show that a quarter, 25%, of customers are not satisfied with their broadband provider which shows standards having dropped 3% since last October 2006 and a huge 10% since March 2006!

Interestingly free broadband was launched in around April 2006 and the UK broadband market really heated up with broadband providers fighting extremely hard to get customers but obviously not putting enough effort into making sure they were happy once they got them.
Two of the providers who have been fighting it out with free broadband are TalkTalk and Orange Broadband and both companies take the bottom two places of the satisfaction list. Orange has just 65% of customers satisfied and TalkTalk just 69% of their customers satisfied.

PlusNet tops satisfaction pollPlusnet however come out favourably in the results with 78% of their customers satisfied with the service, this will be welcome news to Plusnet who had gone down in last years study when they took a 16% decline in satisfied customers due to a number of issues. Plusnet are now owned by BT when they were bought in November 2006.

Another interesting result is that Sky & Virgin Media both have the same satisfaction levels of 76%. Both these companies have been fighting hard and have had recent run-ins with each other when Virgin Media lost the use of Sky's basic channels for their customers which they claim was because of unfair pricing by Sky.
