BT customers (Visit BT broadband) hoping to get the 8mb broadband speeds have to register their interest in the increase speeds and then join the queue to get them activated.
The upgrade to 8mb broadband is free but customers who request it are going to be tied into a new 12 month contract with BT broadband.
New customers to BT broadband will automatically receive the fastest service if they choose one of the deals that entitles up to 8mb broadband. Currently only Option 4 (£29.99 per month) has the 8mb broadband but it will be available on Option 3 from 11 April 2006. Options 1 &2 will receive the service later in the spring.
BT broadband has 2.3 million customers so if you want to get your broadband speed at increased speeds sooner rather than later apply for the free upgrade as soon as possible at www.bt.com/getbroadband
