O2 are the latest mobile phone company to express their interest at moving into the broadband market.
With mobile phone operators Orange re-branding their Wanadoo broadband to Orange broadband also the merger between ntl & Virgin mobile, O2 are not wanting to be left behind in being able to offer more services to their customers.
The move could see O2 looking to buy Bulldog broadband that is part of Cable & Wireless or even look at Tiscali UK.
We reported last month that Vodafone were reportedly interested in possibly buying Tiscali UK too.
Another option available to O2 is to be a "virtual operator" where they offer branded wholesale deals with established broadband providers that could also possibly include BT who previously owned O2.
O2 are owned by Spain's Telefonica who also own and run Terra Networks ISP that has more than 2 million customers. In their European network it is on the UK & Ireland that they do not have a broadband service available.
