There was an interesting thought over on pcadvisor.co.uk relating to the latest survey results to do with the broadband speed customers receive and what they are actually paying for like we reported on last week.
The thought was how long before broadband speeds play a part in house property prices?
Property prices for houses close to the best schools often are higher than other local houses if the location will mean a child gets into their first choice school. The same could well start happening with broadband speeds that a property receives.
Broadband is playing an ever increasing part in our lives and is set only to become more popular as so much more is set to be done via the internet, such as VoIP & TV amongst other things and users are going to want to receive the fastest broadband possible to make the most out of the latest developments and technologies. The broadband speed users receive is largely based on how far away the property is from the local telephone exchange, meaning the closer to the exchange the faster the broadband speeds, the further away a property gets the slower the broadband speed gets.
More workers are getting the chance to work from home and the internet has played a huge part in this as workers can easily communicated directly with their work while sat at home.
It is definitely something that should be on the check list of anyone moving house, especially if they have plans on using broadband from the property as it is not always simply a case of upgrading your broadband account if the speeds you are receiving are not as fast as you would like them to do.
