Japan cable broadband operator shows the worlds broadband operators the speeds to match
The largest cable broadband operator in Japan called J:Com has launched broadband for consumers with download speeds of 160Mb and upload speeds of 10Mb. It has achieved this by using a channel bonding technology called DOCSIS 3.0’s which is similar to what Virgin Media use over here in the UK.
What is more amazing is the fact that the monthly charge for this broadband services is around £43 (based on current exchange rates).
The positive point we can take from this is that the talk the other week about Virgin Media planning on being able to offer 150Mb broadband within a couple of years could actually be true since they are using similar technology!
