HomeChoice & Tiscali are set to merge in a move that will help both companies offer a more competitive service similar to the ones being offered by the likes of BSkyB and ntl:Telewest, according to a report from the Telegraph newspaper.
HomeChoice offer telephone, broadband and TV services but only have a small number of subscribers, just 45,000 although their service is available to up to 2.5 million households.
It would appear to be a logical move as Tiscali have a 10% share of the UK broadband market and with a number of other recent mergers of companies such as ntl:Telewest & Virgin Mobile, Orange & Wanadoo re-branding together and also O2 buying BE Broadband, these companies are now all able to offer more bundled services. Tiscali UK will be able to expand the range of services from HomeChoice even further and increase subscriber number dramatically
HomeChoice is controlled by Microsoft co-founder Chris Larson who has reportedly invested around £100 million of his own money into trying to make HomeChoice a success.
There has been other speculation this year that Tiscali were looking to sell the UK arm of its business.
