Pipex have been on a spending spree and have bought up two other ISPs for a total of £36 million.
Toucan was acquired for £24 million and means Pipex will have an extra 185,000 customers from Toucan.
Bulldog, owned by Cable & Wireless, was bought for £12 million and means that Pipex gets the entire residential and small business customer base, which brings in around another 100,000 customers.
Pipex will be able to use the technologies from the two new companies to start allowing them to offer Triple Play services like many of the other large broadband providers have started to offer this year.
It seems a vital move to make in the communications market to be able to offer customers a range of services from one provider and this year has seen providers such as ntl, Orange, TalkTalk, Tiscali and Sky offering multiple services.
The acquisitions take Pipex's customer base to 1.14 million with 570,000 of the customers using broadband.
Pipex are on a big push to get themselves as closer contenders to the leading broadband providers and have recently been showing a range of new TV adverts featuring David Hasselhoff.
