Bournemouth is set to become the first town in the UK to have 100Mb Fibre broadband and it is going to be delivered through its sewers by H20 Network.
88,000 homes will be able to use the new fibre network and it will cost £30 million with the deployment due to start within the next 6 months.
Using the sewer ducts provides a ready-made solution to providing FTTH (Fibre To The Home) and means that expensive digging up of roads is not required. The UK has 360,000 miles of sewer systems!
At this point there is still no details of how much this will cost the consumer
