The Carphone Warehouse has announced that it is going to buy AOL (UK) internet access business from Time Warner in a sale worth £370 million.
We reported last month that AOL wanted to sell up.
AOL UK are the third largest internet service provider in the UK with 2.1 million customers across the UK of which 600,000 are dial up customers and 1.5 million are broadband customers.
The Carphone Warehouse also operate TalkTalk so the acquisition of AOL (UK) is going to push their broadband user base up to much closer to NTL:Telewest and BT Broadband who are the leading broadband providers in the UK.
