Three Mobile are to upgrade their network to increase the mobile broadband capacity to 7.2Mb
Three Mobile are set to work on upgrading their network in a bid to offer faster mobile broadband speeds.
The Three Mobile broadband network currently has a theoretical top speed of 3.6Mb although this actually around 1Mb in real terms that customers receive. Three aims to upgrade the network to 7.2Mb which would offer real speeds of around 2Mb. The upgrade is set to take place during the summer.
To receive the full maximum speeds that a network can offer mobile broadband the user has to be within around 200 metres of a mobile mast. This is why Three try to be clear and realistic on what speeds they advertise and don't advertise just the theoretical maximum speeds.
This won't be the end of Three Mobile upgrading, with talk that they could upgrade to 14.4Mb in the future but no date having been set.
