1 in 4 claim to have received broadband usage warning
14th April 2009
Results of a survey from ISPreview have found that 25% of their users have received broadband usage warnings
A survey from ISP Review has found that 25% of respondents had been given a warning about their broadband usage, it also found that around 45% said that if they received a warning from their broadband provider then they would switch providers.
A total of 557 users took part in their survey.
Whether it was a survey that provided results that represent the general UK broadband community or not is unknown as many people to their site could be tech savvy users who use the internet allot and don't represent a general view of the average user or not.
However, 1 in 4 had received warnings about internet usage, it would be interesting to see from those who had received warnings how many were on "Unlimited broadband" deals that are covered with "fair use policy" that offer broadband providers a bit of a get out clause.
Broadband use is only going to increase anyway as faster speeds become available, already we see Virgin broadband offering 50Mb broadband on their fibre optic broadband network and BT are starting to install Fibre Optics which will offer much faster speeds and increased usage capacity.
