Tiscali have bought Pipex broadband and voice division in a deal that will cost Tiscali £210 million! We reported back in March that Pipex were up for sale.
Other subsidiaries in the division that are included in the sale are Switch2 Telecoms Limited, Pipex Homecall Limited, Toucan Residential Limited, Pipex Internet Limited and Toucan Residential Ireland Limited.
Tiscali will be gaining around 1 million customers, 650,000 voice customers and 570,000 broadband customers. 250,000 of these customers are Dual Play and take both voice and broadband deals together.
Pipex will be keeping hold of its web hosting, business services and also Pipex Wireless despite Pipex originally wanting to sell the whole company.
Pipex themselves bought out Bulldog Broadband and also Toucan last year so this is yet more consolidation as the big broadband providers fight it out to get customers.
