The latest figures released by Epitiro, the broadband benchmarking company, into the technical performance of broadband providers has again found BT to be placed in top position, followed in second spot by Plusnet, who BT actually own.
O2 make the top 5 list for the first time with Tiscali and Orange taking fourth and fifth spot respectively.
The ISP-I technology (pronounced "eye spy") tests the 16 largest broadband providers in the UK every fifteen minutes and then store the data to figure out which broadband providers perform best. Tests performed are things such as download, upload & ping and so covers a wide criteria for technical performance.
The table below shows how the top 5 positions were filled at different points in the year last year, with BT showing a constant top spot now for the last 6 reports published!
This is the first time that ADSL2+ has been included in the report hence why O2/BE are now showing who use this technology and are able to offer faster download & upload speeds than other broadband providers.
