Virgin Media are once again putting themselves at the for-front of the UK broadband market by now opening up trials for 50MB broadband.
Already Ashford in Kent is into Phase 2 of the trials with Folkestone and Dover areas now also having registration opened for those existing cable modem customers who to trial.
Every Virgin Media Broadband customer in Ashford is now able to sign up to the 50MB service which costs £47 per month. This works out at £10 more per month than the current 20MB XL service being offered from Virgin Media.
The Dover and Folkestone trials are free to sign up for and are expected to last until October 2007 at which point users will have the option to either revert back to their standard broadband deal they were on or sign up to stay on the new 50MB broadband speed!
Only earlier today we reported how there will be a speech made tonight by Stephen Timms, minister for competitiveness, about the need to secure investment for increased broadband speeds across the UK to make sure we don't fall behind other leading nations.
Virgin Media clearly want to keep ahead of the rest of the UK by getting their own cable technology out there and in use before others do.
