BBC 1 & BBC2 are to be simulcast online via the iPlayer meaning higher bandwidth use for broadband providers
One week form now, on Thursday 27th November the two main BBC TV channels will go live on the internet. BBC1 & BBC2 TV channels will be available to watch live as they are simulcast with the TV.
The BBC already streams BBC Three, BBC Four, CBBC, CBeebies and BBC News live online so adding BBC1 & BBC2 to the list will complete the BBCs commitment to make their channels available online.
You can be sure that broadband providers will not be as happy about this news and are likely to be sweating a bit into their bandwidth at the prospect. These main BBC channels provide some of the most popular TV programmes such as Eastenders, Heroes and Never Mind The Buzzcocks which can get viewing figures into the millions, it won’t take that many users to start viewing these programmes online as apposed to via their TV set for broadband providers bandwidth to start get eaten up even quicker!
