Broadband - Broadband News - AOL follow Orange and offer free laptop

AOL follow Orange and offer free laptop

23rd July 2007

Hot on the heels of Orange launching their "free laptop" offer with PC World, AOL broadband have joined forces with The Carphone Warehouse to offer a free Dell Inspiron laptop and wireless router worth over £500 when a customer signs up to a 2 year broadband deal at a cost of £19.99 per month.
The broadband on offer will be speeds up to 8MB with 40GB bandwidth per month.

AOL offer free Dell laptopThe laptop on offer will be a Dell Inspiron with Microsoft Vista, 1GB RAM, 80GB Hard drive, Intel Celeron, 15.4 inch screen, 8 speed DVD writer and have Wi-Fi built into it that can be used with the Wi-Fi router supplied.
Like the laptop on the Orange offer this laptop is not top of the range but more aimed at new broadband customers who don't need an all-singing all-dancing machine.

The same issue as the Orange free laptop offer applies again, being tied into a 2 year (24 month) contract is a long time, especially if a user experiences problems or is not satisfied with the service. Before any customer signs up it is worth thinking if in-fact the offer of the free laptop, which is still a great incentive, is worth the length of the contract you will be tied in for or not.
