WiMAX service from Pipex Wireless shows impressive results

23rd August 2006

Pipex Wireless, which is the company name for a joint venture between Pipex and Intel have announced that they have completed their latest trail that was being done in Stratford-Upon-Avon with their WiMAX broadband service.

WiMAX from Pipex Wireless gives good resultsWiMAX offers broadband connections without the need of a line bringing broadband into your home, it uses Wireless technology and antennas to send and receive the broadband signals.

The speeds achieved have also been very impressive, the latest tests have shown that with an internal antenna at a location 1.2km from the base station without direct line of site broadband speeds of 2mb for both upload and download we achieved.

Using an external antenna speeds of 10mb download and 9mb upload were achieved at the same location 1.2km from the base station.
Other external antenna tests have given results of 6mb download and 4mb upload from a range of 6km from the base station!

The results provided, especially using the external antennas are likely to be exciting news to users who live too far away from their exchange to receive speeds of this level and it could open up even more remote users to the chance of being able to use broadband.
