The worldwide number of mobile broadband subscribers is set to break the 1 billion mark by 2013!
The research carried out by Infonetics found that in 2008 there was a 125% increase in mobile broadband subscribers to 210.5 million.
The leading manufacturers of mobile broadband cards (by revenue) were Huawei and Sony Ericsson who were about equal. Sony Ericsson primarily sold W-CDMA/HSPA cards and dongles while Huawei sold HSPA and EV-DO and a broader mix of PC card and embedded card formats.
The increase in popularity of mobile broadband is likely to mean more attractive deals for consumers as the mobile networks fight for dominance and customers.
