Customers on Virgin Medias "L" broadband package will receive a free upgrade to their service with a speed increase from 4mb up to 10mb.
This roll out will be done region by region with it starting towards the end of February and be completed by late summer.
Neil Berkett, Virgin Media acting CEO said: Virgin Media's cable network gives us a natural superiority over other broadband services and we're delighted to reward our customers with this free upgrade. We've barely scratched the surface of what's possible with our cable network, and we will continue to look for new ways to satisfy the growing demand for even faster broadband in the UK. We're proud to be leading the country's superfast broadband revolution.
On top of these speed increases Virgin will also be rolling out a 50mb speed service to upgrade from their current 20mb stop speed package. This follows successful trials of the service and will be made available by the end of 2008 to over 9 million homes in the UK.
