Sky has today been boasting how its Sky Broadband has managed to reach one million broadband customers in just 14 months since they connected their first broadband customer. This is faster than any other UK broadband provider to get to the first million customers mark.
Sky Broadband is currently only available to Sky TV customers, with Sky Broadband Base service being free for those who have a Sky Digital TV subscription, however 70% of Sky Broadband customers take a paid for option. Sky Broadband Max costs £10 per month and offers speeds up to 16MB.
Sky also confirmed that 30% of the broadband customers are new subscribers to Sky TV.
James Murdoch, Sky's Chief Executive said: Sky entered the broadband marketplace because we saw an opportunity to
challenge the established players and give customers something better.
Our aim is to meet the hunger for better quality, better service and better
value, so to be the choice of one million customers after just 14 months
is a real achievement.
