Prices for Sky Sports 1 & 2 with BT Vision

BT Vision (BT’s Internet TV service) have announced the prices for customers o take Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 for a monthly price of just £16.99 per month.

sky sports Prices for Sky Sports 1 & 2 with BT VisionEarlier this week we had the news that the Sky Sports 1 & 2 channels were to be available for BT Vision customers in a move that would mean that customers could pay just for the sports channels and not have to pay for the basic channels with it.

What’s more is that customers can take the Sports channels on a month by month contract if they wish, also if they only want one of the Sky Sports channels they can do so for just £11.99 per month, although a 12 month BT Vision and broadband contract are required.

The deal gets even sweeter for those customers who are willing to sign up for a 24 month broadband and calls deal, on offer then is the “total sports package” which starts at just £6.99 for Sky Sports 1, ESPN and “on demand” sport from BT Vision or for £11.99 per month if they take Sky Sports 1 & 2, ESPM and “on demand” sport which BT say works out £205 cheaper than Skys current equivalent deal and £281 cheaper than Virgin Media over the course of a year (bundle of Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports 2, ESPN, broadband excluding line rental).

BT Retails Chief Executive said:

Football fans will be cheering our new prices, which mark an end to paying for basic channels when you only want the sport.

“We expect that entry prices as low as £6.99 will welcome in a huge number of extra customers who’d love to enjoy these channels, but thought they were too expensive.

“A more competitive market will ensure that customers continue to get the best sport for the sharpest prices and this opening of the market will be in the best interests of customers.

Customers are able to sign up for the new deals now and be ready for the start of the new Premier League season which kicks off on 14th August.

However, BT are likely to lose money on everyone who signs up for this now as Sky pulled a cheeky move in increasing it’s retail price by £3 per month for Sky Sports to it’s customers, this is linked to the wholesale price that the likes of BT and Virgin Media pay Sky so these prices to BT will also go up by £3 per month, up from £10.63 per month to £13.42 for a single Sky Sports channel and the pair of channels raising from £17.14 per month to £19.07.

Sky were reportedly planning on increasing it’s prices anyway due to having an increased coverage of Premier League matches this season, up from 92 last season to 115 that it will show this season.
