Brits find Slow Broadband bigger “niggle” than job cuts!

Slow broadband in the UK is the biggest daily niggle to Brits, more so than crime or job cuts according to a survey done by O2 for their “Niggles and Narks” campaign.

O2 Broadbands (www.o2.co.uk/broadband) survey questioned 2,040 people and found that 41% found that slow internet connections was what gave them most daily frustration, 36% said that unfriendly customer support is what caused them to get a bit hot under the collar. These 2 issues were ahead of Crime (26%), jobs cuts (18%) and NHS waiting times (14%) in the survey.

Potholes in the road had 49% unhappy and anti-social behavior had 42% not pleased.

o2 broadband niggles Brits find Slow Broadband bigger niggle than job cuts! The survey was done for O2’s latest campaign “Niggles and Narks” and as such we can probably expect that the question may have been worded in  a way that would perhaps favour the kind of results that O2 would be hoping for, add to that not many people have to deal with the NHS, Crime or job cuts on a daily basis (maybe a yearly basis) so this does help with how to interpret the results of the survey. However, small issues are definitely something that do affect people and can cause daily issues and as such they do need addressing.

The Head of O2 Home Broadband, Felix Geyr said:

It’s clear from this poll that the British public is getting increasingly frustrated with the UK’s broadband services. As the new government comes in, and it looks to get the UK online and connected by 2020, we think that now is the time for all ISP’s to change their ways and try to eliminate as many of these daily frustrations for our customers as we can. The Niggles and Narks campaign is built around listening to the consumer, and what frustrates them. O2 are constantly striving to make our award winning broadband service even better and think that Niggles and Narks will only help emphasise this to the UK’s broadband users.

O2 are most likely going to be using these findings to say how well they perform, as O2 Broadband does regularly win awards for it’s fast broadband speeds (check your broadband speed with our broadband speed test), customer service and broadband reliability which is what they will push to people.

O2 top broadband satisfaction charts

A broadband satisfaction survey has found O2 Broadband leading the way.

o2 logo O2 top broadband satisfaction chartsA survey done by broadband comparison website “Broadband-Expert” that had over 100,000 consumers taking part in found that 77% of O2 Home broadband customers were satisfied with their broadband provider. Coming in in second place with 73% satisfaction was BE Broadband. BE Broadband are owned by O2 and so it is probably not a coincidence that these two broadband providers are topping the charts and goes along way to show that they have clearly got a good customer orientated service on offer with their broadband products.

O2 broadband regularly tops satisfaction charts since they have launched into the home broadband market.

The survey found that compared to the same time last year that customer satisfaction across the board has risen around 7% and hopefully goes to show that the broadband providers are taking a greater interest in their customers satisfaction, a rather important factor in making sure customers don’t jump ship and change broadband provider.

AOL were once again at the bottom of the satisfaction charts with a customer satisfaction rating of just 56%, with Orange not far in-front on 59% and BT Broadband also in the bottom three with a customer satisfaction rating of just 60%.

O2 Broadband currently have an offer running at the moment where new O2 broadband subscribers can receive 3 months free broadband when they sign up to one of it’s home broadband package (www.broadband.o2.co.uk)

BT allow O2 to merge onto their network

A deal between BT and O2 has been agreed that will see O2’s networks made more efficient in a 5 year deal.

What the partnership will entail is consolidating O2’s networks such as it’s mobile networks and fixed line networks on to BT’s 21CN. The deal and work will be done between O2 and BT Wholesale and is aimed at hopefully improving O2 customers with their next generation services.

With the huge increase in mobile data usage from mobile phones and mobile broadband O2 will be able to better cope with these demands with this new partnership.

The head of networks at Telefonica O2 said:

“As we move to an all internet-protocol world and as data traffic volumes increase, the consolidation of our fixed and mobile core networks is a common sense approach that will help future-proof our business and provide the best possible service for our customers.”

O2 are set to launch their own home phone service in March which will mean that O2 will be able to create even more broadband, mobile and house phone bundles.
