Tiscali are a well known European telecommunications company. Tiscali were set up in January 1998 by Renato Soru after the Italian telecommunications market was deregulated .

Tiscali started out as a regional telecommunications operator and provider of internet services but expanded rapidly throughout Italy.

After their flotation in 1999 Tiscali set about making their mark in Europe. This involved during 2000-2001 buying up and creating mergers with more than 20 other companies and gave them a presence in 15 European countries.

Tiscali are ever expanding and trying to come up with new and innovative solutions, that include the legal downloading of music.
